OH. MY. GOD. Ian Travis Barnard (also here on tumblies), you are a GOD.

Here are the pictures he took of Trish at PAX East, including one of our full, sexy DMC group. (Look at that group. LOOK AT IT. Aziza and Cae, why you so fine) I think the moral of the story with this costume is would you take a look at how well the paint details came out *flail flail flail*

Okay, I’m going to calm the fuck down, work a bit more on cosploo, and then share the two I have of Isabela…!

Pictures of Trish posing next to the Isabela decal are not-so-secretly my favorite ones! Thanks to LJinto for this marvelous picture!
(interestingly, I didn’t even see it my first time through. After teasing people for not recognizing me as Trish, now I have to make fun of myself for not recognizing myself as well :P)

I wish I’d gotten more pictures of my friends this year. I’m also sad I missed some of them! :’( But anywho, here we have:

Kevin and Tracy in their Manrill and Bethany costumes—amazing, right?

Kristin in her Little Sister costume, looking both creepy and seriously adorable.

Allegra, checkin’ herself out. ;D

This photoset is marvelous, not only because it features my beautiful friends, but because it features Trish hitting on an Isabela decal at the BioWare base and shit just amuses me

I think my favorite cosplay pics are always going to be the ones where I’m making an ass (sometimes literally) of myself in some way. OH WELL!

A little video to showcase the many awesome folks that we met at PAX this year

If I could actually type out my emotional response it would be an entire page of “adkla;sfjFLASASDKA:RKLD.” In an effort to be articulate, I am going to attempt to type actual words. At 1:49 Ongaku88 and I are featured in this cosplayer tribute video as Manrill (male Merrill) and Warden Bethany. One more shout-out to Poupon, who I’ve been plugging as much as possible throughout PAX, who inspired me to cosplay Manrill with her amazing, amazing art (and wonderful sense of humor and personality). I want to thank Ian a million times, I was blown away by the pictures he took of us and I never would have expected to show up in a video. I’m really happy that it’s one where I had my tattoos on as well! Ian, you are one hell of a photographer and thank you so much for this. I wish I could teleport back to PAX and spend more time with the wonderful people I hung out with!! You are all wonderful, and I am downright delighted to have met every one of you!

So many amazing people in this video! (auto-pimpage: Nero, Lady, and Trish show up ~1:25) My reaction to everything was honestly: my friends are so fucking beautiful and I’m so happy to know them.

Good evening all!

I’m back home from PAX East, which was simply incredible! I met up with many friends, and made many new ones as well. The whole experience was surreal - when I’m not near passing out I will detail much more! I’ll be uploading pics to flickr and linking here sometime in the near future, but I wanted to share a few pictures for the time being. Photos include me as Manrill, Ongaku88 as Warden Bethany, Sheila as Mage F!Hawke, Subitoallegra as Isabela and Trish, Tam as Femris, Michael Coles as Shepard, Urdnoteve as Rogue F!Hawke, Hemiart as Bethany, and Booksandcorsets as Meredith! Also featuring Jerry Holkins (Tycho), David Gaider, Patrick Weekes, and Rana (Samara’s face model).

Don’t look at Izzy or Trish, they’re lame. Everyone needs to look at Manrill because he is adorable and I am so glad Kevin made him <3

(also, the Manrill+Merrill and Manrill+Femris pics bring me a little too much joy. Oh, hell, they all bring me joy. Everyone’s cosplay brings me joy <3)

PAX East To-Do: Three days of work left

I came to the rather unfortunate realization last night that the shoulder design on the Corsair’s coat are actually … hideous. Not even kidding. It’s a series of nonsensical squiggles filling in a rather impossible shape. At least the back makes sense, but the shoulders? Oh lordie. So between the design itself and some of the material restrictions that prevent me from making some of the smaller lines, I’m not particularly happy with the shoulders. Oh, the vest is just lovely, the pattern makes sense, and the areas where I had to sort of improvise because you don’t see it all too well turned out well. The shoulders … not so much. No time to agonize.

The lining is partially assembled, but I won’t be attaching it to the coat until the last possible minute. I’m hoping to finish the coat by Tuesday evening, and since I know I can do the vest fairly quickly (only takes 3-4 episodes of QI, by tonight’s calculations XD), I think it’s an admirable thing to leave for Wednesday night. I’d also like to touch up Trish’s vest a bit, but that’s not a terrible priority. Mainly I’d love to, you know, sit down and play some damn video games at some point this week, since it’s been a little over a week since I’ve touched my xbox for anything other than additional views of the Corsair.

Other than that, Izzy’s packed and so is Trish, barring me having to do some paint touchups on the corset. Everything is totally manageable—I’ll have to work out at home rather than training in capoeira since I don’t think I’ll have time for that this week, but it shouldn’t be like the Smuggler, who I finished at ~5:15 AM, only a few hours before I debuted her, and with Sheila and Lorena’s help.

Still, damn. The Corsair, ultimately, wasn’t very fun to make. There were a lot of really crazy tailoring issues, things that look great on the model but don’t translate well to reality, and a little too much time spent with gold cord (more than with Smuggles, I’d think). But I’ll get her done on Wednesday night, show up at the office with all my crap on Thursday, and head up to Boston after work. Everything’s going to be pretty awful leading up to that point (downtime at the office, I know, will be painful, because all I’ll want to do is sew), but it’ll all be worth it. Looking forward to seeing everyone and debuting these costumes far too much :)

I never thought I would have this (impossible) belt done. Holy fuck.
I need to make a few structural tweaks tomorrow (interfacing the belt ends so they don’t flop as horribly, adding a backing to the middles of the two belts so that they don’t spread), but I’m just happy that this belt is in a place where, if you told me to wear Trish right now, I could. It would be a little sloppier than I’d like, but the costume is 100% wearable.
One down, two to go….
