At one point, I was talking to Dave Gaider, and it turns out that he had coincidentally been writing this very scene when he saw the tweet where I announced the fact that I was making Qunaribela.

Do you see this badass lady? Well, what if I were to tell you that this phenomenally talented cosplayer is celebrating her birthday today?

Because she is! MERRY BETHMAS, EVERYONE!

True story: I got to meet Beth in person for the first time a year ago, almost exactly to the date. I spur-of-the-moment convinced her to come to PAX East for partytimes—and, lucky me, it was her birthday gift to herself last year—and had an AWESOME, lifelong friendship-forging time. A year later, and actually getting to celebrate together this time, I’m so proud to call her my cosplay partner and resident prop-and-armor-making Bondo blood mage :’)

ANYWAY, wish this badass an awesome birthday for me, will you? And check out these gorgeous photos too, because UNF. The photos of the Sheriff of Lynchwood and Bethany Hawke were taken by the phenomenal Sonja Carter, and Evangeline by TRANIMAGING.

I have been a fan and follower of Allegra since the costume contest Bioware held at SDCC 2011, along with the other members of her Dragon Age party Aicosu and Virusq. I can’t exactly recall when I started following Bethany, but both of them make quality costumes. They are also cosplay partners, and they’re awesome!

Meeting them - something I wouldn’t have dreamed of having the chance, a few months ago - was definitely the main highlight of my day. Also, getting to see their costumes in real life: a.m.a.z.i.n.g! Really lovely and talented ladies, I’m really happy to have had the chance to hang out with them for a bit yesterday, they were really nice and funny.

That said, I probably sounded like an awkward person, given my English skills are a lot poorer than expected. Sorry for that, and for not talking so much - I was kinda stressed internally because “Oh my god how do you say this” “Ugh I’m not thinking fast enough how am I supposed to speak” “Pourquoi je ne suis pas bilingue ?”

But anyway, thank your for the time we had yesterday, it was awesome meeting you both! Really happy! Here you have the few pictures I took of you, I hope you’ll like them - kinda disappointed because I expected them to be of much better quality :( (yes, I’ve had a Nikon camera for 3 years or so, and still can’t take good pictures.) I edited them a bit (for obvious reasons: Seattle weather) because they were much darker (my fault too.) I think it looks okay, though!

I also wish I had taken pictures of Beth and the Hawke we met :( also Alistair and Morrigan. (yes, I have regrets. I’m kinda mad at me for having such a slow mind. This day was still amazing, though.)

Caroline has been following me for the past forever and a half, and boy was I glad to finally meet her!! While I love getting to meet people at conventions, it can be especially fulfilling when a friendship is limited to tweets and comments due to a geographical distance. Did I hug you really hard? I’m big on hugging in general, but I was ridiculously excited to finally meet you, so I hope the hug was extra awesome :)))))))))))

Thank you so much for these pictures—Beth looks so pretty and I look so damn grumpy/terrifying! I’m so glad you had an amazing time, and I hope you get to come by here again soooooooon :D

Here are the final shots from my private shoot! I am absolutely flipping out over how well these turned out. Had so much fun with this shoot but the high freezing winds and a lack of real pants made for a chilling experience.

Dragon Effect Kaidan, a design I absolutely fell in love with when I first saw it posted. Immediately fanboyed for an hour and then messaged the artist to ask permission to cosplay his design. After countless months of talked and hard work here is the result. I am so happy to bring Andrew Ryan’s original design and creation to life. Hoping more cosplayers will join me! For now enjoy!

Siren’s Call Creative Lineup for Emerald City Comic-Con 2013!

We’ll only be attending the convention on Saturday, as we still have a lot to get done for PAX East with our BL2 costumes. But we will be around on Saturday, with Allegra debuting her Disney’s Cruella de Vil, and Bethany completely mismatching her in Templar armor as Evangeline de Brassard from Dragon Age: Asunder.

…though depending on your feelings on the Mage/Templar debate, Templars may be akin to puppy murderers and so we match completely. Depends on your feels.
