SUBITOALLEGRA’S FOLLOWER COSPLAY SPOTLIGHT: thehumanchurro as Anders from Dragon Age 2.
Hey everyone! Now that I have free time again, I’m starting up some of my “awesome cosplayer post” initiatives back up. On Wednesdays I’ll be sharing photosets of my amazing Cos-Friends (though I might have to skip this week since it’s a stressful week), but on Sundays, I’d like to do a quick spotlight on a follower with a really awesome costume.
Now, I’m not going to lie: this Anders is probably one of the better ones I’ve seen! Top 5 at least. I’m in love with the materials you used, particularly for the brown jacket. The subtle texturing of the suede (is that suede?) and brown leather, when combined with the fur, create a layered look that makes the overall outfit appear more like real clothing than a costume. I also really appreciate all of the eyelets, screws, buckles, and stitchwork you used here—it’s clear that you put a lot of time and effort into making this look great. Seriously guys, look at the stitchwork. It is everywhere: on the sleeves, cloth bracers, jacket (was that machine or hand?), the straps (esp on the boots—I feel your pain!), the belts (and belt loops, holy shit), and the pouches. That is commitment.
Also, is—is that stubble? If that’s a makeup emulation of stubble and not just lighting and photography magic, please share how you did it! The effect is visible without being overbearing, and if that’s a makeup trick then I think it would be of interest to all crossplayers. And speaking of shading, the weathering on the staff turned out very nicely, as did all of the wrapping. Was the key necklace a personal touch, or does Anders actually wear one? It adds a lot of character.
And finally, because I can never ignore this: your posing works very nicely. It’s an interesting combination of casual (kind of like Awakening Anders), but with a furrowed brow that hints at his anxiety. Love the crate shot, too—I always love Anders crate shots XD
There was a lot of love and care put into this costume!! You did an incredible job and you should seriously be proud of yourself!!! :D
