Fanime was awesome! I got to see so many of my amazing friends and work with some incredible photographers (I can’t wait for photos ahhhhhh)—definitely going back next year! I’m all exhausted and bored at the office now, haha.
Here are Lorena, Cassy, and me as the Robber, Lady Maverick, and Pioneer from AC3MP—nothing fancy in this shot, just funtimes with friends :D Boy am I excited to share all the pictures we took!!!!
Did I forget to share this sexy group shot of our Ubisoft-invited AC3 MP SDCC cosplay group, courtesy of Derek Lebrero? Oh, how silly of me ;) I’m excited to inform all of you that 4 people from our group will be in AC3 costumes at PAX Prime, though you may or may not recognize all of us. HMMMM….. </ cagey>
Check out my awesome friends! Just ignore that weird pirate in the top corner. :) Honestly though, we’ve been getting attacked for lack of accuracy, but you should all know that most of us worked off of in-game art. And for anyone who has made an AC costume before, you are probably groaning right now thinking of all the things that change between the concept and in-game versions. Yeah…
GPOY, man! :(
Oh well, we know we’re fabulous. :) Right, Templars?!
Yeah, I haven’t been a fan of the “lack of accuracy” attacks. Concept art very rarely matches the in-game art, and we actually put a ridiculous amount of time into making sure that these were beautiful and amazing, so reading about how they suck because they aren’t accurate (or that we suck because we aren’t posed identically, oh my god who even cares) has gotten pretty tiring. Also jfc if I read one more comment about how I’m a dumb bitch for using a hook instead of a knife…. (it’s called an alternate weapon, jeez. Also, holy shit there was so much misogyny in the comments—oh wait it’s Facebook of course there was)
Oh well. Haters gonna hate!
(ALSO LORENA WE’RE NEXT TO EACH OTHER SIBLING HOOKS)
Huge, huge credit to our phenomenally talented photographer/videographer, Derek Lebrero, who was a lot of snarky fun as well, and with whom I shared a glorious flip-off dance to an entertained crowd.
A few months ago, at PAX East, Gabe asked me if I would be attending SDCC, since that’s where he and I first met (and shot the AC in 60 Seconds promo video). When I excitedly told him that I would be, he asked me if I’d be interested in putting together a group of cosplayers for a secret project that he couldn’t tell me about yet. I even more excitedly told him that yes, I would, and soon got to work asking around.
Months later, I’m sitting here ogling pictures of the group that formed as a result (with lots of help from Lorena as she’s more familiar with the West Coast cosplay scene than I am). Starting in June, the six of us sent e-mail progress shots to each other, secretly working on insanely crazy and detailed costumes (ruffles! buttons! fringe!) and becoming excellent friends in the process. As it was to get this costume done with everything else going on in my life (I wasn’t lying about all the work I had at the office!), it was so fun and so, so worth it. These ladies are Excellent People And Cosplayers and I highly suggest you follow them. :)
These are all the pics we’ve seen so far, but the shoot was a lot more comprehensive than the six photos you’ve seen. Hopefully there will be a lot more to show soon!
Gamespot had a 360 degree photobooth to get a full view of cosplayers (and some passerbys, lol Stone what are you doing in there) so we can get turnarounds of our cosplays. Well, here’s a preview of mine!
My wig is a bit messy but oh my god I don’t even care. Some people in the comment are super creepy and like the turnarounds due to free butt shots, but as a cosplayer, I actually really appreciate the ability to see my costume at all angles. The only bummer is that I’m not wearing the aqua contacts (my eyes were sore, didn’t want to injure myself), but whatever, I’m wearing them for the photo shoot!
edit because Beth is the BEST SPACE WIFE WHO FINDS THINGS FOR ME:
